A classic mint green Torrington emerald, with a twist. Cut into a custom kite shape that follows the original crystal, it moves away from the traditional rectangular form while retaining the distinctive banding of the Torrington area, set in a shape rarely seen in emeralds.
In Australia, emerald deposits are exceptionally scarce. Among collectors and those familiar with Australian gemstones, one of the most sought-after are the renowned Torrington emeralds from New South Wales.
This was a small, isolated deposit that has long since been exhausted, making existing material increasingly rare. This particular stone was hand-mined in the 1990’s. Torrington emeralds are distinguished by their unique banded structure, alternating green and colourless zones running along the length of the stone. This natural patterning is rarely seen in emeralds worldwide and gives each piece a distinctive character.
